Installation

1. Switch the lights and ignition off and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. On the BMW 3, 5 and 7 Series the AFS (adaptive headlight) control module is mounted to the bottom of the headlamp housing. Depending on the model you reach it through the wheel-well liner or by unbolting the headlamp and pulling it forward.
3. Unplug the module connector, remove the screws holding it and slide the old module off.
4. Compare the part number on your old module to the numbers above.
5. Fit the new module, refit its screws and lock the connector fully. It is a direct replacement; no wiring modification is needed when the connectors match.
6. Reinstall the headlamp and trim, reconnect the battery and test the adaptive headlight function. If a lighting fault stays stored, clear it with a scan tool that supports BMW.
