  • 1 x Driver side headlight assembly
  • 1 x Passenger side headlight assembly
  • Half assembly: HID bulbs, ballasts, and high-voltage wires are NOT included; reuse yours

Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery; xenon systems carry high voltage. Remove the front rubber hood seal and the 8 Torx screws along the top of the bumper cover.
  2. Remove the screws and plastic rivets underneath, then the three hex screws at each wheel-housing trim and the screws on top of each wheel housing.
  3. Pull the bumper cover forward, unplug all its connectors and set it aside (turning the wheels or removing them makes access easier).
  4. If a retaining clip is fitted on top-rear of the headlight, remove its screw so the central connector can be unplugged; open the wheel-well access cover and unplug the headlight.
  5. Remove the headlight mounting screws (top and lower) and pull the lamp forward out of the car.
  6. Install the new lamp aligned to its holder, refit the bumper, and have the headlights aimed (AFS cars may need a basic setting/calibration with a scan tool).

Steps compiled from BMW Repair Guide F30 bumper and headlight procedures, BMW TIS (via Bimmerfest) and F30 Bimmerpost owner threads. Professional installation and headlight aiming are recommended.

FAQs

What bulbs do these headlights use?
The listing does not state bulb sizes. Reuse your factory xenon bulbs and transfer any parts your old lamps carry.

Will these work on an F30 with standard (non-adaptive) xenon?
They are adaptive (AFS) lamps. F30 owners report that converting from standard to adaptive xenon also needs the adaptive driver modules and coding (VO option 524) for swivel and leveling to work. They are plug-in replacements for cars that already have adaptive xenon.

Do I need to remove the front bumper to replace these headlights?
Yes. The F30 bumper cover comes off: hood seal, 8 Torx screws on top, underbody screws and rivets, wheel-housing trim screws, then pull it forward and unplug it.

Can I install HID or LED kits?
Not applicable. These are factory-style xenon housings; reuse your xenon bulbs. They are not for halogen cars.
