What's Included

Installation (2005-2007 Subaru Legacy / Outback)

Tools: 10 mm socket and ratchet, push-pin/trim tool, flat screwdriver, drop cloth.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. For the right lamp, remove the air intake duct.
2. Remove the push pins across the top of the grille and lift the grille out.
3. Remove the bumper cover push pins (top, wheel arches and underside), pull the cover out at the fender seams and lower it onto a drop cloth. Unplug the fog lights.
4. Disconnect the headlight harness connectors.
5. Remove the 5 headlight bolts and release the 1 clip, then pull the lamp forward.
6. Move the H7, 9005 and 3157 bulbs to the new lamp (do not touch the glass).
7. Install the lamp, reconnect, and test the lights before refitting the bumper and grille.
8. Aim the low beam with the vertical adjusting screw on a level surface.

FAQ

Can I adjust the headlights left and right?
Per Subaru's factory manual, aiming on the 2005-2009 Legacy headlight is vertical only — there is no horizontal adjuster.

Do I really need to remove the bumper?
Yes. The headlight bolts sit behind the bumper cover. LegacyGT owners note the cover is held only by push pins, so it comes off quickly once you have done it once.

What bulb sizes do these use?
Low beam H7, high beam 9005, turn signal 3157 (bulbs NOT included).

Can I put LED bulbs in these?
Yes. These are halogen housings, so H7/9005 LED conversion kits fit. Use a quality kit with a CANbus decoder if you see flicker or a bulb-out warning, and re-aim the beams after install.
