What's Included

Installation (2008-2009 Subaru Outback)

Tools: 10 mm socket and ratchet, push-pin/trim tool, flat screwdriver, drop cloth.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. For the right lamp, remove the air intake duct.
2. Remove the grille push pins and lift the grille out.
3. Remove the bumper cover push pins (top, wheel arches, underside), pull the cover out at the fender seams, unplug the fog lights and lower it onto a drop cloth.
4. Disconnect the headlight connectors.
5. Remove the headlight bolts (5) and release the clip, then pull the lamp forward.
6. Move the H11, 9005 and turn signal bulbs to the new lamp.
7. Install, reconnect, test, then refit the bumper cover and grille.
8. Aim the low beam with the vertical adjuster.

FAQ

Will these fit my 2008 Legacy sedan?
No. The 2008-2009 Outback headlight differs from the Legacy sedan lamp. This pair is for the Outback wagon only.

Can I aim these left and right?
Subaru's factory manual for this generation lists vertical aiming only.

What bulb sizes do these use?
Low beam H11, high beam 9005, turn signal 3457 (bulbs NOT included).

Can I put LED bulbs in these?
Yes. These are halogen housings, so H11/9005 LED conversion kits fit. Use a quality kit with a CANbus decoder if you see flicker or a bulb-out warning, and re-aim the beams after install.
