Swap the faded amber-and-red factory tail lights on your facelift 2002-2005 BMW E46 3 Series sedan for the cleaner Euro red/clear look. This DEPO-made kit covers both sides of the car: the left and right outer quarter-panel lamps plus the left and right inner trunk-lid lamps, so the whole rear end matches.

What's Included

• 1 x left outer tail light

Bulbs and bulb carriers are not included. Move your factory bulb carriers and bulbs over to the new lamps.

Installation (2002-2005 E46 Sedan)

1. Open the trunk. On each side, pull back or unclip the trunk-side trim panel behind the outer tail light.
2. Squeeze the tabs on the bulb carrier and pull it out of the outer lamp. The connector can stay attached.
3. Remove the plastic nuts holding the outer lamp to the quarter panel and ease the lamp straight out of the body.
4. For the inner lamps, remove the trunk-lid liner panel and take out the bulb carrier. Then remove the nuts and lift the lamp off the lid.
5. Fit the new lamps onto the factory studs, making sure the seals sit flat, and snug the nuts down evenly. Don't overtighten.
6. Click the factory bulb carriers into the new lamps. They plug into the factory connectors, no splicing needed.
7. Test the running lights, brakes, turn signals, reverse, and rear fog (if equipped) before you refit the trim.

FAQ

Will these fit my 2001 E46 sedan?
No. BMW changed the sedan tail light shape with the 2002 facelift. These fit 2002-2005 sedans only.

Do I need new bulbs?
No. These lamps use your factory bulb carriers and bulbs, so just move them over. If a bulb is dim or burned out, now is a good time to replace it.

Are they street legal?
Yes. The lamps are DOT/SAE compliant, and the red/clear lens still shows red for the tail, brake, and turn functions as designed for the E46.

Will I get a bulb-out warning?
Not with the factory incandescent bulbs, since the load is the same as stock. LED bulbs may need load resistors or coding.
