Installation: 2006-2008 BMW E90 Sedan

Tools: 10 mm socket and extension, plastic trim tool. About 30-45 minutes for all four lamps.

1. Open the trunk. For the outer lamp, pull back or unclip the trunk side-wall liner access cover behind the lamp.
2. Unplug the connector and remove the bulb carrier if you're moving bulbs over. Undo the 10 mm nuts on the lamp studs and pull the outer lamp straight back out of the quarter panel.
3. For the inner lamp, pop the plastic clips on the trunk-lid trim panel and lower it to get to the back of the lamp.
4. Unplug the inner lamp, undo its 10 mm nuts, and pull it rearward off the trunk lid.
5. Put your bulbs in the new lamps (921 for reverse and fog, 7506 for brake, signal, and parking), fit each lamp onto its studs, then torque the nuts snug. Don't overtighten into the plastic.
6. Plug in and test parking, brake, turn, reverse, and rear fog before you refit the trim and liner. Check the trunk lid closes with even gaps to the outer lamps.

FAQ

Will these fit my 2009-2011 E90?

No. The 2009-2011 LCI (facelift) sedan uses a different lamp shape and connectors. This set is only for the 2006-2008 pre-LCI E90 sedan, and it doesn't fit the E91 wagon, E92 coupe, or E93 convertible.

Will I get a bulb-out error on the dash?

With the factory incandescent bulbs, these plug into the factory connectors and should not trigger a bulb-out error. Switching to LED bulbs can bring up a lamp-out warning on the E90 unless you use CANbus-rated bulbs.

What bulbs does it use?

921 for the reverse and rear fog lights, and 7506 for brake, signal, and parking. Bulbs aren't included.

Is this sold as a pair?

Yes. It's a full L+R set of 4 pieces: both outer and both inner lamps.

Will the smoke tint fade?

No. The smoke is molded into the polycarbonate lens and isn't a film or paint.
